The Changing Arctic: Monthly Weather Review 1922

Monthly Weather Review, November 1922, page 589. (See NOAA PDF here.)

by George Nicolas IFFT

(Under the date of October 10, 1922, the American consul at Bergen, Norway, submitted the following report to the State Department, Washington, D.C.)

The Arctic seems to be warming up. Reports from fishermen, seal hunters, and explorers who sail the seas about Spitzbergen and the eastern Arctic, all point to a radical change in climatic conditions, and hitherto unheard-of high temperatures in that part of the earth’s surface.

Spetzbergen2In August, 1922, the Norwegian Department of Commerce sent an expedition to Spetzbergen and Bear Island under the leadership of Dr. Adolf Hoel, lecturer on geology at the University of Christiania. Its purpose was to survey and chart the islands, take soundings of the adjacent waters, and make other oceanographic investigations. Continue reading

American Tradition Institute sues Michael “Hockey Stick” Mann

by American Tradition Institute, Tuesday, September 6, 2011

Contact: Paul Chesser, Executive Director, paul.chesser@atinstitute.org

Dr. Michael Mann, lead author of the discredited “hockey stick” graph that was once hailed by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change as the “smoking gun” of the catastrophic man-made global warming theory, has asked to intervene in American Tradition Institute’s Freedom of Information Act lawsuit that seeks certain records produced by Mann and others while he was at the University of Virginia, for the purpose of keeping them hidden from the taxpayer. Singer: Nature – not Human Activity – Rules the Climate

By S. Fred Singer, University of Virginia and SEPP
(Presented at Erice Conference, Aug 2010)

Summary

Santer and sixteen coauthors [2008; hereafter S08] claim that observed temperature trends (in the tropical troposphere) are “consistent” with trends derived from General Circulation Models (GCM).  This result, if correct, would seem to support the validity of greenhouse (GH) models — and thus the claim of substantial anthropogenic global warming (AGW). Steward: Earth’s atmosphere needs more carbon dioxide

by Leighton Steward

Reprinted from Montana Petroleum Report

SHOCKING? YES! TRUE? ALSO YES!

“But CO2 is a major cause of climate change.” “Yes” say the climate modelers.
“No” say thousands of scientists – and “No” indicates the empirical evidence.

Exercise your objective, unbiased logic, forget that all things humans do is bad for the planet (even though most are), and let’s examine these subjects. Continue reading

Schmitt: Dominating Role Of Oceans In Climate Change

by Harrison Schmitt

See Related Releases of February 22, July 2, 14, 19, and 24, 2010

The scientific rationale behind the Environmental Protection Agency’s proposed massive intrusion into American life in the name of fighting climate change has no scientific or constitutional justification. This hard left excursion into socialism, fully supported by the Congressional Leadership and the President, has no basis in observational science as has been discussed previously relative to climate history, temperature, and carbon dioxide. Schmitt: The Role Of Greenland And Antarctic Ice Cores In Climate Science

by Harrison Schmitt

See Related Releases of February 22, July 2, 14, and 19, 2010.

Analysis of ice cores from Antarctica and Greenland play an important role in understanding the history of global temperatures and atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide, methane, and other gases and aerosols. Through analysis of dust, they also provide up to 800,000-year chronologies of global scale volcanic eruptions and major trends toward desertification. Clearly, data from ice cores play a critical underlying role in the science of climate change. Continue reading

Schmitt: Global Temperature In Climate Change

by Harrison Schmitt

Ten thousand years of natural, post-Ice Age climate variability should give pause to those who maintain that current slow global warming and carbon dioxide increases result largely from human use of fossil fuels.

Public confidence in that position also suffers from the exposure of fraudulent academic and bureaucratic behavior aimed at overriding normal processes of skeptical scientific review and debate. Continue reading

Schmitt: The Central Role Of The Sun In Climate Change

by Harrison Schmitt

Policy makers at the head of government in the United States and elsewhere apparently want to believe, and to have others believe, that human use of fossil fuels accelerates global warming.  They pursue this quest in order to impose ever greater and clearly unconstitutional control on the economy and personal liberty in the name of a hypothetically omnipotent government.  Continue reading

Schmitt: National Academy has Conflict Of Interests In Study Of Global Climate Change

by Harrison Schmitt

Extraordinarily complex natural processes underlie changes in the Earth’s climate. They represent decadal to millennial to epochal variations in weather patterns as nature continuously attempts to compensate for solar heating imbalances in and between the atmosphere, oceans, and landmasses. Continue reading

Ball: The Unholy Alliance that manufactured Global Warming

By Dr. Tim Ball

In previous parts of this series (Parts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) I’ve shown how a political agenda took over climate science primarily through the UN and specifically the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).  Continue reading

Ball: Global Warming: The Cold, Hard Facts?

by Timothy Ball

Monday, February 5, 2007

Reprinted from Canadian Free Press

What would happen if tomorrow we were told that, after all, the Earth is flat? It would probably be the most important piece of news in the media and would generate a lot of debate. So why is it that when scientists who have studied the Global Warming phenomenon for years say that humans are not the cause nobody listens? Continue reading
